Michael Morozov served in both the Soviet Army and as a KGB officer.  Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, over the thirty years of Ukrainian independence he established himself as a Ukrainian patriot. Starting with serving as the Managing Director of the Ukrainian Centre for International Security Studies, he worked extensively with The Potomac Foundation in several NATO-funded activities.  Subsequently Mr. Morozov served in critical roles in several commercial banks and holding companies with an annual turnover of more than one billion USD and, as a result, he was ultimately tapped to serve as Managing Director of the State Company Progress (so-called “Special Exporter” of military goods).  His most recent positions have included First Deputy Managing Director of the State Holding Company Ukrspetsexport, Chairman of the State Export Control Service, Deputy Managing Director of the State Concern Ukroboronprom (with more than 100 state enterprises, and more than 70,000 employees), and Adviser to the Prime Minister.  Having received his university education in Czechoslovakia, and speaking several Slavic languages as well as English fluently, Mr. Morozov has agreed to become the New Generation Warfare Center’s Senior Fellow for Defense Industry and Cooperation.  In this role, he will provide insight to NGW Centre reports on various aspects related to defense material assistance to Ukraine and defense industrial cooperation.
